Overview — What is LoRaWAN?

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a low-power wireless communication protocol designed for long-range tracking and monitoring. Within industrial campuses and yards, LoRaWAN is well-suited for truck-in/truck-out management, yard management, and outdoor asset tracking across wide areas.

How it works

LoRaWAN tags periodically send small data packets over long distances to LoRaWAN gateways. The network server processes these messages and provides location information based on RSSI/TDoA techniques. While less accurate than UWB or BLE AoA, LoRaWAN excels in wide coverage and low-power outdoor tracking.
